First US Clinical Site for HeroSupport’s SHIELD Study

HeroSupport SA just announced that NYU Grossman School of Medicine is the first clinical site in the US to participate in the SHIELD clinical study, with Prof. Naamit Gerber as Principal Investigator. Dr. Gerber is a professor and vice chair of education in the Department of Radiation Oncology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, as well as the co-director of the breast cancer and hematologic malignancies disease management groups at NYU Langone’s Perlmutter Cancer Center.

Medyria raises CHF 3.5 million

Swiss catheter developer Medyria has raised CHF 3.5 million to finance FDA clearance and a US launch for its PyCath device.

Two Swiss start-ups have been selected by the German Federal Agency for Breakthrough Innovation (SPRIN-D). The goal is to develop biosensors that continuously measure at least four hormones over seven days. Support from SPRIND includes funding the teams with up to €1.5 million in Stage 1.

The Basel-based Maus Robotics has obtained CHF 150,000 from Venture Kick to develop autonomous robots that prepare fresh crêpes from raw ingredients in just 90 seconds. The food robotics startup is opening its first long-term installations in Basel this summer.

ETH spin-off NexMR acquired by Germany's Magritek

CHF 1.25 billion in venture capital went to Swiss start-ups in the first half of 2026 – 15.5% less than in the same period of the previous year. This investment volume is thus on a par with the levels of 2023 and 2024. The hardware sector and canton Vaud performed well, while the biotech sector and canton Zurich experienced a downward trend. Fundraising remains a challenge for venture capitalists, but they are nevertheless more optimistic than a year ago.
